The westbound Western Pacific Cal Zephyr at Tehachapi Creek Crossing #5
Back in the 1940's and 1950's, known on the Santa Fe Railroad as the GFX, but aptly named the Bakersfield Spud Express, this reefer train carried potatoes harvested from Kern County, Central California, to markets in the east. Here is the 1940's era eastbound Bakersfield Spud Express, at Tehachapi Creek Crossing #5, on the Golden Empire Historical and Modeling Society, Bakersfield, California, N scale layout.
Phase 1 of the N scale layout signaling project comes to an end, and Phase 2 begins..........................
