Did you recently purchase some trains at the Bakersfield Model Train Show and want to get some ideas for what to do to get started in your new hobby? You will have plenty of experience to draw from the members at GEHAMS. With several years of experience, we are sure we have the answers to all your questions, when it comes to model railroading! And on the N scale layout............
When I'm not working on the signaling project, on the GEHAMS N Scale layout, I do some time working(?) on my N Scale Home Layout and also doing some maintenance to my locomotives. Yes, after several years of running, your locomotive does need to be maintained, like cleaning the wheels and any other electrical contact points, as those areas do get dirty after several years of running. Just like your vehicle, locomotives do need to have maintenance done to them to keep them running at top-notch operation. I finally got around to doing maintenance work to my N scale Kato E8 locos, which were custom painted for the Illinois Central Orange/Brown scheme for the City of New Orleans. After completing the maintenance work, I test ran them on my home N scale layout, which is the Porterville-Orosi Branch of the Santa Fe Railroad, in circa 1955. Here is the City of New Orleans, as it rumbles through Porterville, on my home N scale layout. I will be running the City of New Orleans at the GEHAMS April 25th Public Open House.
